Merreigh is an upper medium sized black and red saddle marked female of correct breed type.   Merreigh has a correct feminine head, dark eyes, tight lips and correctly placed ears.   Free of any excess of angulation front or rear Merreigh has powerful, athletic, and free reaching movement, free shoulder, correctly placed forehand assembly with no hackney, lifting, or flipping movement from the front.   She has firm patterns, tight feet with strongly arched toes to complete her correct front.    She has a long underline, a good topline, and good angulations in the rear.   Second thigh could be longer, first thigh is excellent as is her hock length and strength.   Merreigh has nothing excessive in the rear, hocks are short, firm, and there is no crossing over, looseness, or dead tail in her rear assembly.   Merreigh is a very typy female of our preferred (late 90s) type, she is athletic, tight and dry, with nothing excessive and everything present to be correct to the breed standard.   Like the long lived females behind her Merreigh has the structure needed for a long and active life.

One of our string of Kiro daughters I think Merreigh is very much like her father Kiro.  She is outgoing and sociable with human and canine family, kind natured, tolerant of puppies, beagles, and all the other GSDs.   From her dam Luna, Merreigh gets her structural type which is so much like Luna and her dam Arrow and she even bears a strong resemblance to her great grandsire Xano (which makes us super happy since Xano was a most loved dog here).    A natural athlete Merreigh can be intense when she is chasing discs, running fast cat, or coursing, but she is just the easiest dog to hike with and she is a patient cani-hiking partner despite my slow pace and regular need for balance assistance from her.    We can, and do, take Merreigh everywhere with us and her common sense, dependable and thoughtful temperament make her an enjoyable shopping, walking, and travel partner.    While Merreigh does enjoy being active and physical she is a delightful dog around the house, she is calm, patient with all the other dogs, and even when the weather is terrible and she goes days without exercise she remains laid back and content to hang out.

A quick learner Merreigh enjoys all kinds of training, she has good food and toy drive and she values praise and cheer leading highly.    While Merreigh does enjoy training and learning she is an easy dog who doesn’t require training or management to be a pleasant and mannerly companion around the house.

Merreigh is literally always smiling, she loves everything about her life and has one of the cheeriest dispositions.   She loves her dam Luna and can often be found laying facing her and cleaning Luna’s face.

Our Trait Management System is an in house system we have designed to help those who cannot meet our dogs, or get to know them, get an idea of their behavior and health traits.   Because it is important to us that our puppies actually meet the needs of our clients and fit well into their lifestyle we developed this system to give us data for our breeding program and to help those seeking a puppy see if our dogs are actually a good fit for what they want to live with.   Because training can affect behavior dramatically, because we are skilled trainers with decades of experience, and because training is not genetic and cannot be passed to the puppies we breed, the behavioral trait descriptions are of our dogs in a natural and untrained state, they don't reflect what I or Rebecca could train the dog to do, because we are not going home with each puppy, they instead are observations of the natural and thus genetic predisposition of a dog.
